Bangladesh scores well in women empowerment

Bangladesh ranks several rungs higher at 39, much ahead of South Asian countries like India (53) and Pakistan (56), and tops the list of Muslim countries, surpassing Malaysia at 40 in a 58-nation study titled "Women's Empowerment: Measuring the Global Gender Gap".

Conducted by the Switzerland-based World Economic Forum, the study measured the gender gap on the basis of five critical parameters set by the United Nations Development Fund for Women.
