Stop the War: UK Demonstration

AUGUST 5: EMERGENCY UK DEMONSTRATION
SATURDAY 5 AUGUST, 12 NOON
ASSEMBLE HYDE PARK SPEAKERS CORNER
UNCONDITIONAL CEASEFIRE NOW
STOP ISRAEL'S ATTACKS ON LEBANON & GAZA
END BLAIR'S SUPPORT FOR BUSH'S WAR

After the Qana massacre, no one can deny what we are witnessing: the systematic destruction of two countries. Everyone who is horrified at what is happening can help to bring this carnage to an end. We need the biggest possible turnout on Saturday's emergency demonstration. What you do in the next few days can make a difference. Tony Blair is under the most intense pressure on all sides to detach himself from his master George Bush's catastrophic warmongering and call for an immediate unconditional ceasefire. His party wants him to stop. His cabinet wants him to stop. The vast majority of people in the country want him to stop. Our demonstration can intensify that pressure to breaking point.

Stop the War has not experienced anything like it since the run up to the Iraq war in 2003. Over 1000 people every day are contacting the Stop the War office.

CARDIFF DEMONSTRATION

Thank you to the hundreds who marched on Saturday. The march attracted widespread coverage in the local media, and was supported by many organisations and individuals.

A Bangladeshi newspaper have contacted us requesting photographs of the march, if anybody has photographs, could they get email this address.

We would urge people to urgently write to local MPs, AMs and Councillors urging them to speak out against British blocking of an immediate ceasefire - and send their replies to us. Thus far, very few Welsh public figures, have been prepared to take a stand.

So far, Cardiff Stop the War Coalition, have received indications of support for an immediate ceasefire from John Marek AM, Julie Morgan MP, Leanne Wood AM, Jill Evans MEP, Helen Mary Jones AM. Cllr. Mohammed Islam, Cllr. Ray Davies, Cllr. Gwenllian Lansdown & Lord Dafydd Ellis-Thomas AM - we need to hear from more elected representatives prepared to speak out.

LEBANON SOLIDARITY GIG

We are planning a benefit gig to raise money for Lebanese humanitarian charities and our own solidarity efforts, if anybody is interested in helping organise a concert or knows musicians or other artists, please get in contact.
